This book got another girly at shipe to say to me “we’re reading the same book” !

Rowell was not my culture as a tween but this is great

Tonight we watched the episode of Girls where Hannah tries to extort her boss and then goes to Adam’s apartment and he jerks off in front of her and she thinks she’s doing a dom thing but really he’s just being a gross asshole but she says she did it for the plot. I came to the realization that I don’t want to finish this book bc I am not interested in reading a book of main character syndrome shenanigans

Unfortch several weird racist moments which are mostly contextual for the characters but odd nonetheless. Kind of boring and not nearly as compelling as family happiness

I mean this as the highest compliment: colwin’s books make me feel like I do when I watch Nicole holofcener’s films

Delightful! I’m realizing this is very similar to the conceit of the other romance book I’m reading rn but this one has a much more relatable protagonist. I won’t write a rude review of the other one bc it’s an arc but I realized with horror that the MC is like a sorority girl. I don’t care about their interiority. Much more aligned with this anxious girly

Literally 10 pages in and there are too many Berkshire County mentions so I went to Instagram and based on two photos (of a view of a lake and a view of a soccer field) I deduced that this author went to my high school (LinkedIn confirmed this). I went on too many pensive walks in those places to not clock them immediately!

I started listening to this last week when I was laying on a heating pad. I will return soon!
