literally more than half way through the book and they haven’t fallen in love yet. They’re doing this weird fake-dating, friends with benefits thing and i’m ngl it sucks. The story hasn’t progressed much at all… not a lot of prep for the big festival which is a major plot point has been done so far… don’t know how that can be achieved AND they fall in love in less than 100 pages.

I think the main thing bothering me about the book is the author’s improper and unnecessary usage of certain words. Ex: I’d been inundated with the restaurant and getting it all caught up where i could..”Inundated means flooded; it’s mainly associated with like islands or land. Why not just use the word “consumed”? I’m all for expanded vocabularies and incorporating new words but it doesn’t fit.

it’s okay. The names are cringey; it gives this sort of amateur tumblr fanfic vibe going on (Athena, Sage, Freya, Fisher, Venus.). The author’s got a vast vocabulary, yet misuses it. Most times the words are used correctly, but some times they aren’t and are ill fitting. I hate the fact that it feels like she’s just replacing concise words with slightly more extravagant ones just because.
