People are allowed to disagree with me, obviously, but at this point I’m just...tired of reading defenses of Merchant of Venice.

The tone of this book is very pop-history, but the author has a doctorate and presumably knows what she's talking about, so I assume the tone was a publishing mandate.

Okay, so the book and movie Holes is basically true, too. What the hell.

Imagine if the summer camp plot from Addams Family Values was played as a straightforward horror movie, and it was all real. Dear god I'm angry.

I recognized this book from an article in YM Magazine in the early 2000s, if you can believe that.

I'd better read this before I get my shot!

Figured I'd reread this now that I've actually seen Alan Rickman's Sheriff of Nottingham!

This is apparently the year of me reading my way through the Arthurian canon and I might as well focus on obscure Gawain-centric works.

Honestly I’m skipping straight to the ghost stories. I’m not proud.

Points for using an epistolary format.

God help me, I'm finally reading this.

I'm surprised and saddened by the racism in some of these stories, but I guess I just have to prepare for it in pulp of this era.

I'm enjoying this, but for a book celebrating genre fiction, it sure is derisive towards romance novels.

Of course I would read this.

I was too scared to read the book. Maybe I can take it in graphic form.

This book is terrible but I am greatly entertained.

I might need a break- this is a gripping story but it's so unrelentingly miserable.

This is the most depressing page-turner I've ever read.

If I can read Lovecraft and Roald Dahl, I can give Flannery O'Conner another try.

I love the stuff I'm learning, but I don't know that it needs to be so condescending. Does anyone today really think the Victorian era was idyllic and need to be brutally corrected?

It's official- I love every lady version of Watson I've ever met in a Sherlock Holmes adaptation.
