This page was especially emotional to me because I could imagine being in Tony's shoes. Of seeing the girl he loves being devastated and in hind mind, trying to leave him. I can see why he decided to ask Eilis to marry him before she left, because he feels the dread that he might never see her again, and that she will just stay in Ireland. I believe this to be the most romantic scene in the entire book.

When Tony took Eilis to a baseball game with his family, I realized just how close and intimate they have become. Although I knew that they were in love and having a relationship, I thought they still had their doubts because of how Eilis seemed to push Tony away. However, the fact that Eilis and Tony's families are hanging out like going to a baseball game, I realized how close they have become

I felt like this was the real start of the story. Before this, the story was the background information of how Eilis arrived at Brooklyn and was adjusting to her new habitat. However, when Eilis met Tony, I knew immediately that Tony was going to be a big part of the story. The story somehow turned direction to being about life to romance. I am exited to see what happens to Tony and Eilis.

At first, I merely thought this book was about a girl fro Ireland moving to America and trying to adjust to her new environment. But this page made me realize the book was a lot more than that. Then colored people were allowed into the store that Eilis worked in, there was a lot of talk. The tension rose inside the store and people shared disapproving glances. The book is also a description of racism during that time

This scene made me see how much Eilis was missing her father. When Eilis mistook a man for her father, seeing her brief excitement and longing was heartbreaking. Especially for Eilis, because she is in a foreign country and feeling homesick, it must be even more harder for her. She is still at an age where she needs the full support off both her parents instead of working in a whole different country.

I thought that the tension between the inhabitants were interesting. Because at first glance, I thought the inhabitants were just frivolous girls who always wanted to talk about cloths and sales. But when Ms. Kehoe offered Eilis the big basement room and Eilis found out that the former inhabitant had been the victim of a stalker, I realized that Ms.Kehoe might not be good a character as I had thought.

I thought this page was really connects to my previous good read. Although it does not seem that important at the first glance, I believe how Eilis felt was important to understand her character. When Georgina put make up on Eilis, she said that she felt more mature and gave her confidence. This shows that she is usually so unconfident and shies away from people

This page really made me understand Eilis's personality. When Eilis's neighbors locked the bathroom from their side so that they could have the bathroom all for theirselves, I was astounded at their selfishness. I was also frustrated at Eilis's inability to stand up for herself. I understood how it was not in Eilis's nature to fight but rather stand back and struggle by herself.

This page really made me feel how Eilis must be feeling. When the inhabitants of Eilis's neighbors locked the bathroom door from the other side so that they could have it all for theirselves, I was astounded at their selfishness. I also felt frustrated that Eilis could not stand up for herself. It made me further understand Eilis's shy personality and made me wonder about her future.

This page really made me realize the families situation really well. It seems that all the kids have been going to England for work, and only Eilis,Rose, and their mother was left. Also, the realization that if Eilis leaves, Rose would be forced to stay in the house and take care of their mother made me think how hard it must be for Rose. I realized what kind of sacrifice that she was making.

I could see how much Dex was opening up to Mosscap. They talked about things, their emotions, and their most inner thoughts. When they talked about how even though they have had everything they could possibly want, they felt tired everytime they woke up, empty. They were looking for a purpose. I feel like Dex had already found their purpose, to be tea monk and to help others, but was simply burned out.

These pages really sent a message about how much Dex had grown closer to Mosscap over the few days they have been together. Although at first Dex had pushed Mosscap away, feeling awkwardness and even yelling at it when they felt frustration. However, in now, Dex and Mosscap are comforting each other as well and holding hands. It is interesting to see these kind of interaction between humans and robots.

In this page, I really felt sorry for Dex. They had thrown away everything at hand, just for this trip, only for the road to be blocked. I understood the anger that Dex felt, I would have felt just the same. But I was a little surprised when Dex decided to walk to their destination. I felt like that it is just a senseless thing to do and dangerous. But it shows how sometimes, feelings to overcome logical thought.

Just like Dex, I expected Mosscap to be much different than how it is described in the text. When I think about robots, I think machines that do things for humans. Inanimate things that has no emotions no feelings. However, Mosscap is much more human like. He speaks fluidly, even in a friendly manner towards Dex. It starts conversations and asks Dex questions. Mosscap has made the plot 10 times more interesting.

I could see right away how much Dex had grown as a tea monk. I could see them immediately pick up rhythm, prepare his things, and talk to their patron smoothly and understandingly. It was especially impressive because just a few pages ago, she was a fumbling newbie who had her patron comforting them instead of the other way around. The passing of time and the growth of the main character was really evident.

Although nothing significant have happened yet, something that stuck out for me was the expression crickets. The narrator kept mentioning how they wanted to hear the peace and calm of 'crickets' a probable symbol for peace of the wild and calm environment. I thought it was interesting how the the book started off with the author changing roles at the start of the book. It was an unexpected plot change from the start.

The tensions between India and America was visible. War was about to happen. It was interesting how Changez chose to influence this big event in a subtle way. He chose to become an educator and educate future generations. He spread awareness to his students about what was happening in the world . This was interesting because this empathized how knowledge is the most powerful weapon.

Juan Bautista talked of janissaries, Christian boys who were to be Muslim soldiers. When he mentioned this, it was apparent Juan was referring to Changez. Changez has been brought into American at a young age and graduated from Princeton University as well as working for Underwood Sampson. The janissaries are like Changez because Changez is working for a country that is causing harm to his own country.

This page revealed Ericas perspective on Chris as well as Changez's. In Ericas mind, Chris is still her lover, and still very much alive to her. She still imagines Chris and is not ready to move on. On the other hand, Changez is frustrated and still wants Erica. It must have been frustrating for Changez because he cannot process why Erica is still so obsessed with Chris, especially when he is deceased.

In this page, Changez was faced with racism. After the attacks on the twin towers by Arab nations, many Americans has been showing their anger at Arab foreigners. They hung up American flags as if to say that the Arabs has angered the U.S. and should deal with the consequences. When aggressive Americans taunted Changez, the fact that he stood his ground also reveals something about Changez’s character.

This page was interesting because of the behavior of Changez when he discovered his fellow nation, Afghanistan, was being invaded. It is understandable to think that he will get angry if his own country was invaded but the fact that he got so upset about other countries is confusing. It was especially confusing because as a student studying abroad, this does not effect Changez at all.

This page revealed something deep about Changez. Although Changez explains himself as a non-sociopath, the fact that he smiled at the news of 9/11 was alarming. It might have been because of his residence in the United States. Maybe it was the jealousy that foreign countries have to the United States because of their wealth. Maybe it is the racism that Changes had to face. Whatever it was, it was a surprise.

Even since Erica was introduced to the story of Changez, she has been mentioning this 'Chris'. He is a deceased character in the plot, the former boyfriend of Erica, who has been mentioning Chris every time possible. She talks about him when Changez and she is in restaurants and even in picnics. This was weird because considering Changez has interest in her, it is hard to tell if Erica likes Changez back or not.

Changez has been working hard in Underwood Sampson. He slept very little and put his best efforts into classes. He was exited to be working there because it was his dream job. The way he works shows his personality. In the book, Changez is shown as a hardworking, odd person. Jim mentions Changez as a observer because of his inward personality. His work has gotten him 1st place in Underwood Sampson rankings.

Page 10 described the process of which the family of the main character lost their original prosperity. The inflation and division of Changez's great grandfather's wealth eventually made Changez's family lose most of their money. Although they were not as wealthy as they once was, their social status did not waver, for that reason they kept being invited to weddings of entrepreneurs and wealthy busniess men.

I think there was a lot if mixed emotion in this page. In the final page, uncle Frank committed suicide, most likely to be able to hide his crimes, but also to not damage the reputation of the family and put his family out of trouble. David felt many emotions towards this action, however, David said that he felt an emotion close to love. I think there was a lot of complex emotions involved in this page.

This page made me get to see Wesley's perspective in this scandal. After the rescue attempt from Wesley's father to get Uncle Frank. I could just see in the tone of Wesley that he felt ashamed and regretful. I felt sorry towards his family for getting them into this mess and seemed to apologize. This made me realize how difficult the situation must be for Wesley.

This page slightly altered my image of the Hayden family. At the beginning of the book I though that the Hayden family were as same as any other family in the area. However, in this page the main character realized that because he was. a Hayden, he had a certain amount of respect he learned, because of his parents and grandparents. This made me wonder how the people's perspective would chabge after this incident.

In this page, I thought the final works of Marie has an unexpected meaning. She said that "he's hard to see when you look for him". In this statement, I think Marie is symbolizing Uncle Frank as the coyote. Because Uncle Frank is in plain sight, it is harder to find him when you try looking for him in weird places. I also found it interesting that she passed away as soon as she said that.

This page informed me a lot about the main character. The main character felt he had to kill, even when he didn't know it. When he killed the magpie, he felt something new, he was exited. He felt the satisfaction in killing a magpie, at the idea of something getting killed by him. I thought that this was interesting because there is another character in the book with this kind of psychotic behavior, uncle Frank.
