In this page, Changez was faced with racism. After the attacks on the twin towers by Arab nations, many Americans has been showing their anger at Arab foreigners. They hung up American flags as if to say that the Arabs has angered the U.S. and should deal with the consequences. When aggressive Americans taunted Changez, the fact that he stood his ground also reveals something about Changez’s character.

This page was interesting because of the behavior of Changez when he discovered his fellow nation, Afghanistan, was being invaded. It is understandable to think that he will get angry if his own country was invaded but the fact that he got so upset about other countries is confusing. It was especially confusing because as a student studying abroad, this does not effect Changez at all.

This page revealed something deep about Changez. Although Changez explains himself as a non-sociopath, the fact that he smiled at the news of 9/11 was alarming. It might have been because of his residence in the United States. Maybe it was the jealousy that foreign countries have to the United States because of their wealth. Maybe it is the racism that Changes had to face. Whatever it was, it was a surprise.

Even since Erica was introduced to the story of Changez, she has been mentioning this 'Chris'. He is a deceased character in the plot, the former boyfriend of Erica, who has been mentioning Chris every time possible. She talks about him when Changez and she is in restaurants and even in picnics. This was weird because considering Changez has interest in her, it is hard to tell if Erica likes Changez back or not.

Changez has been working hard in Underwood Sampson. He slept very little and put his best efforts into classes. He was exited to be working there because it was his dream job. The way he works shows his personality. In the book, Changez is shown as a hardworking, odd person. Jim mentions Changez as a observer because of his inward personality. His work has gotten him 1st place in Underwood Sampson rankings.

Page 10 described the process of which the family of the main character lost their original prosperity. The inflation and division of Changez's great grandfather's wealth eventually made Changez's family lose most of their money. Although they were not as wealthy as they once was, their social status did not waver, for that reason they kept being invited to weddings of entrepreneurs and wealthy busniess men.
