The Man Who Would Not Shake Hands - 3/5 stars

Intriguing start, but by the end I found it interesting without adding anything new to the premise. Well executed but lacks any real power.

Exactly what I needed. Goofy and fun bio that doesn't take itself or the subject matter too seriously while still being informative and interesting.

728 pages in and the narrator spoke directly to the reader for the first time in the book, and there has never been any framing device or narrator character setup or alluded to up to this point... what the hell?!

The world and concepts are interesting, but there are significant chunks in which nothing happens even though the setup felt like something would

This is dragging hard with some really weird and unintelligible choices

More fantasy elements than expected, and the mother son relationship at the heart of the story so far is beautifully written, and really highlights a difficult situation for 2 people that love each other tremendously

A belittled and bitter man inherits a magical word processor and proceeds to change his life selfishly and learn no lessons

Paranoid: A Chant - 4/5 stars

This poem really invokes a sense of uncertainty about paranoia or justified fear, that I think links nicely into most people's experiences with feeling paranoid

I feel like ive turned a corner and started to genuinely enjoy the atmosphere of the book in a way that I couldn't for the first 2 hundred pages

It's intriguing and has me thinking of it as a mix of Charlie and the chocolate factory and the secret of nimmh. It's dark, Victorian and mysterious. Excited to see where this goes

Mrs. Todd's Shortcut - 5/5 stars
Very interesting exploration of time and portals with possible links to the dark tower, favorite story of the book so far

The Jaunt - 4/5 stars
Haunting look at teleportation although a little goofy at times. No firm answers but fun to think about.

The Wedding Gig - 3.5/5 stars
A dark yet fun look at the fall and rise of an organized crime family. It lacked depth but was enjoyable

This, so far, has been an entrancing look into the vanity and selfishness of a few men, using beautiful prose to describe despicable action, and I find myself getting pulled into sympathy against my better judgement.

We can forgive a man for making a useful thing as long as he does not admire it. The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely.

The way sanderson created and revealed the structure of the magic system in mistborn is absolutely incredible.
