I've been trying to pace myself slowly with this book because I just don't want it to end. Steinbeck's story telling is absolutely incredible, from his sharp descriptions of the environment, the amazing character development and progression, the biblical references - all of this intertwines into a perfect first 160 pages.

In the last 30 pages, Burgess brilliantly explores the prime of juvenile delinquency and ultra-violence in this post-wartime fictional world through the theme of relationships with the protagonist's disconnected family his "groogs" and the victims of his crimes. Within these pages there is a lack of societal order. There is no controlling of Alex and his accomplices, which will be their eventual demise.

My first thought of this book is that it is a gruesome and unfiltered show of teenage gang culture derived from trivial and meaningless reasons, where the writer cleverly uses intense Nasdat slang to attempt to dampen the severity of the crimes Alex, the protagonist, and his groogs commit. All within the first 22 pages...

Jealousy has noticeably begun to arise in the Nation of Islam regarding Malcolm X's popularity in the media, and has been weaponized to draw the Nation of Islam's support away from Malcolm, as a potential attempt to distract Muslims from Elijah Muhammad's adultery. Malcolm X is becoming a martyr for this false religion - an intricate turn of events, hinted that it was fated since Muhammad was scared of his potential.

The last 10 pages truly conveyed Malcolm X's reverence for Islam. Though his exposure to Islam was through the Nation of Islam, a wrongful representation of Muslim belief, the story he has been telling shows traits of being truly good Muslim. The reflection upon is past brings back sympathy for his aggressive Nation of Islam views on unity -- what would he have in prison if not the Nation of Islam?

Just passed the section where Minister Malcolm X discusses the 'March' on Washington, a supposed protest by the angry Black community but was instead usurped by the White men and Black 'intellectuals' (as Malcolm X named the educated Blacks who sought unity). A smart tactic employed to secretly silence the angry Black community - a community that needed a representative like Malcolm X instead of MLK.
