The only book I've read by Ishiguro is Klara and the Sun, which I didn't like at all.

I didn't plan on picking up another book by Ishiguro tbh, but I've just joined a book club and this is the pick of the month. I hope I'll enjoy this one! But I've heard it has "dark academia" vibes, and as someone who's been out of uni for years now, I'm not sure that appeals to me much anymore.

But we'll see!

Classic KA Merikan book so far. It's steamy, the characters are good but not great - there's more to them than meets the eye, but in a cliche way? - and the writing is also not great but somehow maddeningly addictive.

This started off extremely strong, but is now starting to drag. I imagine it will pick up again in the last third, but I do hate it when books are a slog in the middle. I'm still enjoying it a lot. There's a lot of scope for it to be 5 stars, some scope for it to be 3 or below, and 4 is probably the most likely. We'll see.

Definitely trying too hard to be quirky with the "witty" robot banter, but I'll try to stop being so grumpy and just enjoy the ride.

I'm genuinely enjoying this... it's best taken in small doses, and I disagree with lots of it, but I actually do like it!

I picked this up thinking I would hate it, but wanting to read it regardless; and I am pleasantly surprised. (Obviously there is many flaws, but I do enjoy reading it!) Oh God, I'm going to get my leftist card revoked now aren't I...

I thought Empire of Black and Gold and City of Last Chances were both very dull, but the Children of Time trilogy is one of my favourites. The ones I didn't like were both fantasy, and Children of Time and this one are both sci-fi, so I hope I just don't like Tchaikovsky's fantasy and all his sci-fi works are awesome...

I hate reading books out of order, but they seem to be standalone? I hope so, anyway!

yo this book is INSANE imagine being a woman in the 70s before content warnings and tiktok and shit, and you pick this up because you're looking for an uplifting romance and you get THIS
