Camel. Really enjoyed Henry Lawson's midnight rantings as the camel listened.
Tom Cat. Kiki's adventures in the Trenches were vivid. Her demise unfortunate.

Wasn't really liking it, jumped around. Was chosen by my book club . Seemed confusing because I didn't know the backstory of the main characters from other books. Part 2 just started with an actual event, and if it goes down the murder mystery track, I'll keep reading, otherwise I may put aside.

Well written action scene at the Alder underground where PACT fight the SoGa, but we lose too many characters. Now in a 2 hour world, Khaise, Margo's focus is her feminine growth. She has to use her sexuality to spy at a party. Why does she have to be beautiful to be a good spy? But that's just how social constructs work, even in other worlds. Moon then has a profitable "wash" and the story is setting up a sequel

The witch hunt is well underway and the women have suffered repulsively under the Pricker's evil needles. How they are not dead from filth and disease is remarkable. The abuse is rather disturbing. Paused to read another book after 6/10hrs.

Takes some effort to listen to the audio version given the stream of consciousness style of text. First time reading Virginia Woolf.

Married in disgrace at 17 to Charles, Winifred feels unwelcome in the German family's farmhouse. 6 years later, Winifred is now mother to three boys and a new baby girl. She briefly reunites with Aunt Lydia. But she does send Fred and Jack to school until Charles takes them shearing. She's been thinking of leaving for many years.

Too many dystopian similarities to the world of Gilead (women not taught to read, instead attend marriage school; young boys sent to war; technology gone; "brethren" patriarchal leades). But the idea of Songlight has potential. Quite a few characters to keep track of.

This story has me holding back tears...the baby sister about to have surgery and Skellig finding a little strength...I can't help but fear he's come to take her... Such a powerful story from simple yet elegant writing

Took until the end of Part 3 to actually get a reference to "the library" which will be the key to unlocking the mystery of where Inez's mother is and possibly where Cleopatra's chyrsopoeia is hidden.

Part One ended with Whit's betrayal. Part Two begins with 2 arrests and the 3 girls, Inez, Isabelle and Farida, banding together. Very melodramatic!

Enjoyed the NY short stories. Now into the LA novella with separate but overlapping characters.

At the end of Part 3, Kester and Polly have been taken by a new villain but his van has crashed into Stag.

Plenty of hiccups as Phoenix and Lily road trip their menagerie from Tassie to Dubbo (so far). Lots about her Autism and her work drama.

It lost me when he started reading Goldstein's manual. Now being brainwashed, I'd prefer the story to wrap up, getting tedious.

Very engaging so far, an easy read language wise, but lots of deeper themes to ponder about life choices and fate.

The first 250 pages or so gradually reveal Katerina's traumatic wartime experience. Once Katerina has unburdened her traumatic past to David, who has surreptitiously manipulated her, he is eventually caught out but manages to keep enough trust to follow her to London. Here the story becomes more of a manhunt for a missing psychopath, with the Pearls the only link to any clues.

Back in Australia, Gordon strives to find a way for Cherry to be allowed in. Meanwhile, Cherry starts sewing Western style dresses to make income.

Cam is rescued and soon discovers the truth about Cetacea. Now with Dana's help, the Day of the Whale is set to be a revelation

Cam's idea for Day of the Whale gets the attention of the important Byron Vos. Cam thinks he's closer to the "truth" about Cetacea, but it's obvious to the reader that the elder residents know more about their island life and the 3 floods that isolated them and drowned scientific facts and technology.

Not a lot of progress with the case, apart from them figuring out the obvious about the photo. Some character development in Thea's work life but not much more about Byrne's AA. Probably going to wrap up neatly in last 50pp.

Greta has been arrested and accused of witchery. Will the werewolves help save her beloved? Lots of folklore makes this weave into the fairy tale world easily.

Favourite character is Nella, the apothecary who only helps women, until she is blackmailed. Maid servant Eliza has taken an interest in poisons and witchery but makes a terrible blunder in using a marked jar. This is found in present day London by Caroline, who is dealing with martial problems.

Hazel discovers a secret about Bob, and puts up with Irene as a house guest. meanwhile clues as to the whereabouts of the missing circus woman slow until a sold house sparks Betty's interest. Will the mini skirts sell?

Left me haunted...
