Messing around with love potions is a terrible idea, but numbing all emotions is even worse, and addictive. How can a character have so much intelligence and so little sense as to be able to craft the numbing potion, and willing to ingest it daily?

Really enjoying the banter. She calls him a snake, his name for her is little viper…who could be better suited? The actual underlying qualities match up well too, which is much more important for the relationship, but banter is fun

I like that, rather than bowing to the tradition that an independent-minded woman from an age earlier than ours ought always to cut her hair off, Mary instead points out the practicality of keeping long hair out of the way, without needing constant cutting. Not for feminine reasons, but sheer practicality

I like the usage of Carabosso, closer to the original name of the bad fairy in Sleeping Beauty. Too many go based off Disney and have variants of Maleficent.

The story is interesting, even with some confusion as to Amoura’s native time and what would be normal then. Definitely suspicious about the quest and whether they were summoned to help hero or villain

Already loving Pippak’s and her brother’s blended magic styles. So much more interesting than a mere on/off switch delineating magic or not

Ryn’s thirst for revenge is definitely going to get him in further trouble. Nuthea’s anticipation of questions at first is still kinda unexplained

Nuthea has the speech patterns of one who either reads minds or sees the future, most likely the former. Or she’s just extremely intelligent, but with magic in the mix, telepathy isn’t out of the question

So far, it’s interesting. The author definitely researched the complications of a family with both foster/adopted kids and biological kids; Ruby’s struggles so far and guilt over having any struggles are definitely accurate. Oliver’s deception is definitely going to come back to bite him; that’s just basic plot.

Well written so far, with the ever-popular trope of a headstrong princess who feels trapped by rank and femininity. Family tensions combine with the world building to draw the reader in. It’s a nice touch to start it out with an excerpt from a biased, in-universe history book the protagonist is frustrated by

Always awkward when people turn out not to be dead

Zaria is the kind of character who isn’t often a main character because she doesn’t want to be. The way her words freeze up is almost hauntingly familiar. I can already tell this book won’t be forgotten anytime soon
