Lizzy doesn't seem to want a boyfriend or a partner or even true love. She wants to feel wanted. It's almost as if all her life she learned that "everything she is" (aka a "fat girl") is undesirable, so in order to get others' attention (even from her friends) she acts like she thinks they want her to act. She mimics whoever she's with. Which is so heartbreaking.

I just hope her story isn't just this.

I can't understand the author's intention. Do you want us to feel bad for this mother and family, or do you want us to detest how self-centered and privileged they are? Because so far I don't feel that bad for them. It's an awful situation and I get why they're acting the way they are. But.... they're not the victimes here.

Idk if it's the narrator's tone but omfg I can't stand Big Swiss, she's a smart ass, she's arrogant, she's hypocritical, and she's just as lost as Greta.

Greta is becoming the villain in my opinion....

I just want to see this girl realize this is abuse and feel the RAGE we're all experiencing for her. She's so self aware and knows a lot of what's happening isn't right, yet she isn't connecting the dots.

The last half of chapter four was a such tough listen...😔

Uuugh I want to stick my hand through this book and beat the shit out of Strain 😭 his manipulation is SO OBVIOUS and I hate that Vanessa is so good at lying that no one suspects a thing

So far so good... Loving the narration and time jumps. I'm horrified at this man's behavior and how insidious his manipulation is.

I'm just kinda over the English teacher trope 😅 why can't it be a physics teacher or something. The "we connect through our love of literature" feels a bit generic now.
