Trying this again to hopefully continue the series.

Still Life - artistic phrase to go with art interpretation book with a crime. Set at Thanksgiving time.

Thinking of DNF this. Not interested in plot or even the characters. Due for return to library in a week - will see if I push through.

I’m so glad I picked this up again. Completely different experience. I’m thinking I had the wrong expectations that blinded me to what is happening in this family sketches. Or did I want more about June and how things got to the beginning?

Second chance with this short story collection:
Maybe I was upset that Louise killed off my namesake so quickly, but this time around I’m liking it a lot more.

Clay’s Ark read July 5-7
Engaging compelling and thoroughly disturbing book. The dark nature here is on par with Lilith’s Brood and Fledgling. Once again mankind is forced to reckon with forces within and without that strip away humanity. This time it is a symbiotic infection that causes its host to act compulsively. But the cost for these compulsions is quite steep.

Popular dark academia that is recommended to challenge the absence of minority groups. But already the execution is problematic. Characters are surface level at this point and the aggressions towards Devon and Chiamaka could do with some nuance.

Sad to say, I will probably end up with an unpopular rating.

The March entries have been jaw dropping. So many revelations that show where the mystery is heading. First contact still up for debate but the addition of corporate sabotage/ sibling rivalry takes this book to a whole new level.
