I’m so glad I picked this up again. Completely different experience. I’m thinking I had the wrong expectations that blinded me to what is happening in this family sketches. Or did I want more about June and how things got to the beginning?

Second chance with this short story collection:
Maybe I was upset that Louise killed off my namesake so quickly, but this time around I’m liking it a lot more.
The World’s Greatest Fisherman: introduction to a family grieving with the death of a mother, aunt, niece, granddaughter and estranged wife, June. And all the secrets.

This could either be a series of interrelated short stories of two families or a family saga which covers essential points in these connected lives. All I can say is this may require a slower pace than I’m giving it. I feel like things happen without fully comprehending. Especially with Lulu.

I have been wanting to read Native American fiction since the diversity storm of last year. So Louise Erdrich has been one of the highly touted authors so i picked up what my library had available.
So far, the imagery has been vivid and the family drama has been intense. Still early days yet to form an opinion other than this looks like an eye-opening and tragic read.
