I didn’t know there were monsters in this book. I am pleasantly surprised.

Everytime there’s smut in this damn book I am in fact shocked even though I was told there’d be smut in this book. (Why is there smut in this book?)

Up for debate on if this book is about Hamnet or Agnes…

Because the vast majority of this so far is her story…not complaining though.

As much as I *loathe* Joan, I sort of understand her hatred towards Agnes. Not because Agnes is of any fault, but because inadvertently, simply for looking like her mother, she is a consistent reminder of Joan’s grief.

If anyone is at fault I think it’s the father (whatever his name is) for never confronting the issue…

Side note, Bartholomew is so delightfully dense I love him.

ANNE/AGNES THEY CAN NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU

I keep forgetting this book is actually sort of about Shakespeare…until someone’s name is brought up or he does something in particular. I think it’s very clever for O’Farrel to write him only as “The Tutor” so the story remains Hamnet’s.

The worst thing this book has ever done is give me Reb’s POV (fantastic narratively, I just HATE him).

It’s insane to me that Reb is THIS terrible at age 8, I know that this is bred from being raised in a severely abusive household, but I genuinely wonder if he could have been anything *but* this.

He’s a narcissist and a psychopath, I genuinely believe he was only ever capable of cruelty.

I really hope, whatever happens, that Michael at bare minimum gives Reb what he deserves.

I hate Michael so much I literally cannot stand it😭 Lucy PLEASE grow some standards (and self respect maybe)
