I’m still chugging along 😅 the calamities persist, but so do I

Ok this is WILD, I have been fully seated since the end of chapter one. Never read a premise quite like this.

I finally made it halfway!! The length of this book should be a misdemeanor. Going to pivot to a shorter May release for a brief pause and then circle back!

I was intrigued by a “cozy fantasy” premise but I’m afraid it might be too cozy to keep my mind from wandering… or I’m just a sleepy girl idk 😅

You can cut this tension with a knife!

I feel like I’ve been reading this book for ages, and yet I’m a quarter of the way through 😅 it almost lost me but I’m trying to rally, it picked up steam at the 20% mark.

This is the first thriller I’ve read with a vineyard setting! Who knew they could be so mysterious.

So so so good. And despite the length I always feel like there’s quite a bit going on, and super high stakes.

If you’re curating your summer reading list and are looking for a YA nostalgic summer romance with a Sad Girl Summer kind of vibe, I think this might be your pick!

I had a couple of false starts on this around the time it came out - but this is one of a handful of books on my list that I want to read before baby comes, and I’m so glad I prioritized it! Beautiful writing, and despite the length I’ve been absorbed from the start. Enjoying the ride!

While the whole time and memory travel thing has certainly been done before, it’s nice that this one isn’t campy! I get frustrated with the rules and semantics of time travel-based books sometimes, but I’m keeping up so far.

The book equivalent of people watching (on a cruise)

Absolutely loving this so far - it’s like if Liane Moriarty wrote a story about an elder millennial going on a Backstreet Boys cruise. Perfection. And I loved the Annie character from the jump, relatable and also a non-cruise person on a cruise

Having a hard time getting into this one, a slow start but I keep hearing so many good things!

Haven’t read a dystopian in awhile, though it was my preferred genre for a large part of my twenties. Even so, this is my first one that’s so water-based. Lots of Moby Dick crossovers. Cool imagery! Digging it

Well this got really sci-fi on me!

One of my favorite Nabokov quotes couldn’t be truer than for this book: “The writer’s job is to get the main character up a tree, and then once they are up there, throw rocks at them.” I thought that maybe I just hate Natalie but I’m pretty sure the author hates her too!

Off to a great start. In spite of how unlikable the protagonist is I’m still invested in where it’s all going! It’s also impossible not to picture the protagonist as the Ballerina Farms matriarch 😂

This whole book has basically been about discrediting and bashing (mainly male) prolific parenting and mothering researchers and authors, essentially saying they can’t escape their own biases… but I feel like this author is doing the same thing?!

The thing with missing person thrillers with split past/present timelines is like every time you take two steps forward toward answers you get immediately plunged backward in time, sometimes by years, just for random context framing. It’s driving me a little nuts! Like let’s just gooooo

I’d be interested in a psychiatrist’s view on this book!

Idkkk guys usually I love Abby Jimenez’s character development but why does it feel like this is just a bunch of random conversations strung together? And the semi-love triangle aspect is juicy, but we only get 2 out of the 3 POVs, so it’s pretty obvious which way the reader is prone to lean 😂 I keep thinking how much juicer this COULD be with the third POV

Reading a book about insect and body horror while pregnant might have been a truly terrible idea 😅😮‍💨

No clue what to make of this yet but the fact that every friend I have on here who has read this book gave it five stars certainly sets the bar high!

I have a quarter of this book left and I already know it’s going to be one of my favorites of the year 🥹

I can’t put this down even though I am SO creeped out 😂 it’s like the protagonist of Riley Sager’s “Lock Every Door” with the vibes of “Home Before Dark” but 5x scarier

I feel like if you’re a Catherine Newman or Ann Patchett fan this would be totally up your alley
