A client of mine has written a memoir in which she mentions a play she saw in the '90s. She can't remember the title. It was about Anne More, John Donne's wife, and she specifically recalls a scene in which Mrs. Donne throws her skirts over her head to get a little peace and quiet from her crazy daily life with all those kids. Anybody have any ideas?!

Do you write fiction? If so, how do you develop varying "voices" for your characters so that each has a distinctive style?

I spent a chunk of last night talking to an AI about the future of writing with generative AI. How do you cope with insomnia?

The next Wyrdhoard Wyrkshop is Mon, Mar 25 @ 6pm eastern:
GIVING VOICE TO CHARACTERS.
Just as people speak differently from one another in real life, so our fictional characters develop individual "voices" in our stories or novels. Using examples from literature, we'll talk about how to develop a distinct speaking style for each of the characters in our works.
Cost: $35. Register here: https://lnkd.in/eXq8epVV

Sørina is 79% done with Babel, or The Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators' Revolution
It's HARRY POTTER with racism.
It's 1984 with teenagers.
It will convict you and break your heart.
I was afraid of that.

...and the darkness begins, and the breaking of the fellowship. I have a feeling it's going to be a nightmare from here on out, but a meticulously-written nightmare of sheer insightful genius.

This is THE PERFECT NOVEL so far, especially for linguists, literary scholars, polyglots, writers, and those of us in love with Oxford. I have a feeling it's going to take a very dark turn and break my heart, though.

Hey, friends! Brenton Dickieson and I are making progress on GARDENERS OF THE GALAXIES: HOW IMAGINARY WORLDS TEACH US TO CARE FOR THIS ONE. We're commenting on first drafts of chapters. It'll be a long time yet before this book comes into the world, but it's a joy to work with our chapter-writers on it.

I'm looking for a recommendation: I'd like a lovely little collection of poetry celebrating the beauties of the body. A sweet little hardback (like the Everyman's Pocket Poetry editions) would be nice, and I'd prefer an anthology rather than a single-authored collection. Do you have any suggestions?
