Ugh. Not sure if it's my summertime SAD talking or not, but I just don't wanna deal with Enjolras and all his Revolutionary Bois. They're doomed and I know it, and I can't bring myself to emotionally connect with them, so now I'm just slogging through their scenes :-(

Goodreads just recommended "Adulting for Dummies" to me. I can't decide fi I should feel insulted, since I've been adulting for more than two decades now, or if I should feel youthful and carefree...

The poison of deep grief is as potent as anything bottled.

And, just like that, Carly Stevens has encompassed all of Hamlet in a single sentence. I am in awe.

Can I please climb inside this book and slap Maria Pike? Preferably with a rolling pin or branding iron or something else capable of inflicting permanent damage? UGH.

Hahaha! I'm so amused. "Abbe Busoni" just told de Villefort that the Count of Monte Cristo is a Lutheran. I am a Lutheran, so I find this extremely amusing and enjoyable :-D

My kids are eating this book up. They keep begging for more. :-D My son says this is his favorite book I've read aloud to them for years and years.

This is getting extremely tense and I think I need to just sit here and finish it and forget about anything like making breakfast or cleaning my house up for company tomorrow.

Shout-out to my friend Katie Hanna, whose story I just finished reading in this courageous anthology of stories and poems shining light on what it's like to live with mental health struggles. Such a good story, Katie!!!

I don't think I fully appreciated just how funny this first book is the first 3 times I read it. I am laughing aloud so often!

Alas, I'm DNFing this book. I don't handle intentional violence against children well, and so... nope.

What the flippity flip flip? I just discovered that the two beautiful hardcover books of F. Scott Fitzgerald's short stories I have that call themselves "Flappers and Philosophers" and "Tales of the Jazz Age" DO NOT CONTAIN THE SAME STORIES FROM THOSE TWO COLLECTIONS OF HIS BY THOSE NAMES THAT WERE PUBLISHED IN THE 1920s!!! Whaaaaaaaat? Whyyyyyyyyy? Who in the publishing world thought this would be a good idea?

I'm starting to accept that I generally don't enjoy reading books on my phone. I think I'd like this book a lot better if it was in paperback.

Astonishingly enough, I actually got quite a few things done today that I was supposed to, despite having read a vast chunk of this book. Delightful day, really.

If you see a bunch of books getting randomly rated by me tonight... I'm just enjoying rating stuff I've read previously because... I can. I haven't gone on a mad reading binge, I swear.

So far, every single adult in this book needs to be slapped. Jane's father had just BETTER BE WONDERFUL, that's what. If he's not, I'm going to quit reading.

Goodreads, I thought we were friends! NOTHING in my book preferences would suggest that. Fie upon your algorithms!

I've never thought about "Its a Wonderful Life" having noir elements, but wow, one article in this book has convinced me it does. So cool.
