This "use and interact on Goodreads more" goal isn't working out…

Started this morning. I won't say I'm loving it, but it's quite funny—in a good way. After all, you don't always meet a hero with “Photoshop done on his actual face”—oh, wait. :D

Enjoying this but I think I have to table it for a while. I'm feeling like other books at the moment.

Spunky heroine. Somewhat foolish, but I love that she doesn't allow herself to take crap from anybody, much less the hero.

Slow-going start. Hoping I can continue and finish it this evening.

If only I'm not interested in what happens next.

My first Sherry Thomas, and only because this is contemporary. That said, while I can certainly see how her style works in historical romance beautifully, it's not working in contemporary. Maybe I can give the purple prose a pass, but it's the voice, the language that's really kind of awkward to read.

Not helping that, so far, the premise is tired at best.

Having a little difficulty losing myself in this book. A small town characterised not by wackiness but by viciousness? Yikes.

I'm sure it's not trying to be mind-blowing, but there's a sense of predictability in the story.

I have two guesses:

Reason the father is cold? Heroine is either adopted or illegitimate. "Legal-size files" a dead giveaway.

Amber is slutty because she has a philandering husband. >_>

Ahhh, the chuckles.

I wish I had time for this now, but later isn't so bad. Sigh.

Oh my goooooosh. Brilliant sexual tension. If you like long seduction-slash-foreplay, then give this a whirl. Loving it.

Ahh, the trappings of a small-town romance. The characters are, at this point, mostly caricatures. The father is a jerk; and with the heroine's family running the whole town, he can actually get away with battery with the sheriff, who is his son, right there watching. And I'm sure their kind of extortion is perfectly excusable. (Not.)

But I am enjoying this a lot! Especially the celebrity cameos. LOL.

… I'm not sure if the hero is a chauvinist or a rogue gentleman.

Really cute so far. Loving the heroine's sarcasm and snarky banter with hero. They just binge-watched a TV show I haven't seen so I got lost for a while there, but I totes know the feeling.

Rereading to remind myself why I strongly dislike both the hero and the heroine.

Continuing and finishing this today. I will. I promise.

So incredibly engaging in the most brilliant way. How Bliss builds up character is just…wow. The emotional depth is down there with the Mariana Trench.

But I have been stuck at 84% for two days. The feeling of dread over something that quite possibly might happen in the next few chapters has me disabled. Like watching a movie, covering my face, hitting pause.

What is this book doing to me?

Not a lot of romance this deep in the book, but darn if Tina's and Blake's individual stories aren't keeping me hooked. SO. GOOD.

Blake has had a problem since before this book started, and while I'm picking up puzzle pieces here and there, I want want want to know now!

Also, Maria, Tina's roommate? There's this intriguing part about her not being a girl. Because she's tall? She's trans? I can't wait!

Aussie slang is strong here, folks.

I'm really liking the discussions on gender stereotypes. And there are some names meant to break them. There's also a side of plus-sized wingwoman. Interesting.

Funny guy. I LMAO'd so hard.

Didn't I read some months ago that the 90-something condom effectiveness rating is only with perfect use? I believe the "real" figure is closer to 85%, which accounts for human errors (pinch that tip, darn it!).

WTF?! They're fighting over something so weird. And thing is, I think this is just an excuse for Sara to completely topple the darn boat after Mama Angelo rocked it.
