Maaaaan the detective scenes read like a noir film

Slow advancement but pretty clear that the author knows where he’s headed, and is confident about it.

Hmmmm

I have great respect for Pullman as a writer, and for Sheen as a narrator — those reasons alone push me to continue. The book is long and slow paced and I’m feeling too old for the prose.

I warn you that my friend is a compound personality and therefore it is difficult to blame him as an individual.

The dawning realisation that this won’t be an easy read such as I have been accustomed to of late. I actually have to think and reread!!

5 stars for the eight, and last short story. A gripping exploration of beauty’s role in society.

4 stars for the seventh story. Excellent (!!!) story, but a dull delivery

Helped me get through today’s long run

Lots of fake humility on this section of the book. It’s giving Cristiano Ronaldo, Musk, YE—simultaneously.

Just what I needed to hear

Glad I gave this second book a try. It doesn’t milk from the brilliance of his first book but instead it platforms an humble growth.

On chapter 3, and can understand how this is a bible for runners. Can’t wait to try a few things out during my next run.

2.5 stars for the sixth story.

3.5 stars for the fifth story. Loses itself in its complexity, but would make one hell of a movie if adapted by the right director.
