Finally finished all my best of 2025 lists:

What books have I missed on this list with a most unwieldy name:

100 pages in and I'm feeling slightly detached, unsettled by the events but also confused because I'm uncertain where the story is going. It probably doesn't help that I'm reading it in bits and pieces over a long time.

Frothy inanity.

Over halfway through the book and we have been hundreds of years away from 1177 for the most of it, most recently making digressions into the Trojan War and Exodus.

I'm having trouble finding the point of this scattered and jumbled history. Ancient Egypt had a Dark Ages? So?

We've already backed up 600 years from 1177, and there's plenty of civilization spread all over Europe, Asia, & Africa. Even if Egypt is having a bad stretch, it seems there are plenty of other options for human civilization to thrive even if Egypt failed to rebound.

Guess you need to read the book first?

Reading a suspense thriller mystery is always so tiring, being in constant battle with the author over every word or phrase as potential clue. Is the answer so obvious? Are these red herrings? Is this only the first level of something more complex? How can this be drawn out for another 200 pages?

This isn't bad, but it also reminds me of why I don't read many books like this.

Super slow and meandering diary entries from a teen girl about slice of life humdrum. This is a hybrid graphic novel where the pages of diary text are occasionally interrupted by short and random segments of sequential storytelling. The math probably doesn't add up if you actually counted the pages, but it feels to me like 90% text right now. And 100% dull.
