“In the state of original innocence, the masculine and feminine bodies were the basis of the communion of persons. In the state of sinfulness, sexuality seems to be an obstacle to unity—a cause for fear and mistrust.“

Annie is on page 163 of 348 of Ina May's Guide to Childbirth
“Remember this…:Your body is not a *badly designed machine*. You are not a machine. The Creator is not a careless mechanic. Human female bodies have the same potential to give birth well as aardvarks, lions, rhinoceroses, elephants, moose, and water buffalo…”

I’m sure this doesn’t imply that women *never* need medical intervention. But it does seem they need it less often than offered.

“Just as sure as the eye is designed for seeing, it seems logical that there must be things designed to be seen. In nature there are all sorts of warning signals designed to be seen…Bur I think that nature didn’t stop just at warning signals: I am convinced that the sky and its clouds are things designed for man’s information and spiritual contentment. I am certain that the sky was designed to be seen by man.

Aerial plankton? I had no idea. Spider ballooning I did know about, however, thanks to Charlotte’s Web.

I wish I could take a naturalist/folk weather class so I could pick up on natural observations and make pretty good weather predictions. This kind of “seeing” and connection with the natural world has mostly been lost…

Like 150 pages of positive birth stories? I’m down. Need these to keep in mind to balance out any negatives ones I hear…

The writer from The Jupiter and the archdeacon turn out to be similar characters! Neither are concerned about justice and truth in these matters.

Uproars caused when the papers get involved! It’s like a slanderous reel/video/post going viral.

Although Medievals saw the world as symbol, this did not mean that all of their art was necessarily symbol rather than just pure delight in the created world, and an effort to bring all of creation into parishes.

“Reading the life of St. Joan of Arc, she came to realize that her own glory would consist in being hidden…”

The Hidden Life. Something I think about often (and I love the movie in part because it illustrates it, but it is not alone in talking about it).

“He is even so much closer when He hides Himself.”
“He hides Himself to beg for our love. Jesus does not want us to find our repose in His adorable presence. If He hides and clothes Himself in darkness, if He keeps silence, it is that we may practice charity towards Him as to one who is in want. He puts Himself at our mercy…He stretches out His hand to receive a little love.”

“We compliment our ancestors, with infinite condescension, believing that they were trying to take their first primitive steps toward science, toward being us, but Lewis thought ancient mythology was instead driven by this spiritual longing to metabolize the beautiful.”
