I have to take breaks because I'm so overwhelmed with emotion at the essay Run Towards The Danger. Polley's brain injury, how people react to it, and the successful treatment mimic my >3 year experience of a chronic headache so closely, it's jarring.

Cried at the dedication already. Good start 😄

Someone must have told Stenning that commas were in short supply when he wrote this. Good grief. I don't know if I'll make it.

The reader of this audiobook is very monotone. There is a lot of dialogue and I can't tell if it's the writing or the reader that has made it hard to listen to. Giving up

The repeated fatphobia re: humans in this book and statements like " just as we can undo the healthiest of meals by finishing with a slice of chocolate cake..." are making it very hard to get through. How does eating cake "undo" a healthy meal?? Give me a break.

This is magic. Wall Kimmerer is an Indigenous botanist + poet + brilliant audiobook narrator, which all comes together into a beautiful storytelling experience where you can't help but absorb wisdom and knowledge.

Oh my goodness this just got so exciting. Love this book.

Don't know if I can finish this...the dumbest lawyer and most unprofessional lawyers and law enforcement you could conceive of.

How is this superstar lawyer so dumb????? I know this is supposed to be fun but holy crap she sucks at analysing a case...

Moments of laugh out loud hilarity and some chuckles but formulaic and tedious at times so far. Taking a break...

Jones's stamina is unreal. Every sentence is packed with trivia and zingers punching up at people who deserve every word and more.

This audiobook is bizarrely voiced by a posh English woman

I cannot for the life of me understand how this is so highly rated. Some of these anecdotes are painfully boring, the order of events is all over the place (don't mind a non-chronological narrative if it makes sense but talking about how devastating a friend's death was many pahes before going into their relationship at all makes no sense) and the format of a book/audiobook isn't taken advantage of nearly enough

Oh the irony of this book being called The Storyteller. He is Writing (simile after simile...). On the audiobook, he is Reading (So. Much. Emphasis.). So far I feel like more editing of the book and better direction of the narration could have gone a long way.

The reader keeps running out of breath. It's so irritating. The audiobook is not good.

Good story so far but dear god the Salvadoran accent this narrator is trying to do is unbelievably bad. One character goes between Salvadoran and Jamaican and the other sounds Japanese half the time. Regret going for the audiobook.

THIS IS SO GOOD. Audiobook is a work of art with music and Smith singing and rapping.

Frustrated with myself that I got this on audiobook so it's taking ages to get through. It's so good. If I had the written version I'd be flying through it to see what happens!

Hard pass on the audiobook version. The voice actor sounds like she's reading clips for museum captions except for >11 hours. I cannot sustain this boring almost robotic narration any longer. Putting the ebook on hold to try again!

Holy crap. I haven't really thought about Jessica Simpson in...decades? But Sofie Hagen recommended her memoir and the library had the audiobook available right away, so why not? I have cried twice and can't stop talking to my husband about her life, just 14% of the way through.

Not sure I'll make it through the audiobook. The voice actor has no concept of levels: "he wore velvet trousers" and "he was shot in the face" (not actual quotes but you get the idea) would be read with the same tone, intensity and volume.
