Mark is on page 110 of 352 of Pretty as a Picture
I may have read "better" books recently, but so far this is one of the most enjoyable reads I've had in quite a while.

Mark is on page 15 of 299 of City of Devils: The Two Men Who Ruled the Underworld of Old Shanghai
I don’t think I’ve read a book before that has a preface, introduction, AND a prologue.

Mark is 33% done with Dead Lions (Slough House, #2)
I thought Slow Horses was very good. Based on listening to the first third of Dead Lions, I’d say that Mick Herron has upped his game a notch. This is outstanding espionage procedural, as well as being hilariously funny.

Mark is on page 228 of 457 of You Don't Have to Say You Love Me
This is going to be a top contender for my favorite book of the year. Probably best experienced on audio as read by the author.

Mark is on page 130 of 208 of Hitler's American Model: The United States and the Making of Nazi Race Law
I chose this week to read this book because I ran out of renewals at the library. With the events in Charlottesville, I couldn't have picked a more suitable week to learn that among the few precedents that Nazis could find for codified racism (and the only example of criminalized miscegenation) were in the United States. Of course Nazi concern for legality was only a pretense, as their later crimes would show.

Mark is on page 153 of 188 of What I Talk About When I Talk About Running
"In a few minutes I'm going to swim .93 miles, ride a bike 24.8 miles and run a final 6.2 miles". That sounds so ridiculous compared to 1500 meters, 40 km and 10 km. Can't the translator just trust that people with enough erudition to be reading Murakami can cope with a few metric units? Or that anyone who is interested in reading a book about running has probably watched the Olympics?
