I chose this week to read this book because I ran out of renewals at the library. With the events in Charlottesville, I couldn't have picked a more suitable week to learn that among the few precedents that Nazis could find for codified racism (and the only example of criminalized miscegenation) were in the United States. Of course Nazi concern for legality was only a pretense, as their later crimes would show.
