damn, that was a depressing prologue. i hadn't been prepared to cry this early on. i hope the rest of the book will be less sad.

im sorry, but this plotline is ridiculous. it's a dystopia and the world has basically ended, yet they're all getting riled up over a dog being in trouble somewhere?? they're all gonna go out of their way and risk their lives because of a dog? the heroine and her daughter haven't even met the dog, they really should not care this much 🙄 i like dogs but it's ridiculous in this setting.

ive cried more during these 14% than i have in the past couple years. it's so so heartbreaking.

i wish i didn't need to sleep...

a giant dragon just squeezed his way through the heroine's doorway into her house like a cat, and the heroine's like "no one will ever believe me" hahahaha i love this so much

im LIVING for the way the heroine is having a bonding moment with the hero's family - by telling them about the time she hit him in the head with a lamp 😂 they're so proud of her

the hero: "... you would let me hold your hand?"

i swear, every time this guy opens his mouth i make an involuntary pterodactyl noise

im glad darius isn't one of those annoying martyr heroes who decides the heroine deserves better and instead of working on being better he just gives her up because it's the easier option. he knows she deserves better and he'll work like hell to get closer to deserving her.

im skimming the flashback. i know the heroine went through terrible stuff, i don't have to read the specifics. thankfully i was prepared because RL wrote it got dark around this time in the book

so far my favorite hero is Silas but i think it's because he doesn't talk 😅 not much to dislike about a gentle, silent giant

one of the heroes was apparently in a situationship with a woman who'd been under the impression it could turn into something serious. and then he ends it by introducing his new woman (the heroine), and making it clear he wants something serious with HER instead of the women he'd already been seeing. i hate guys like that. like, at least end it with the woman before pursuing a different one??

the heroes went from endearing to making creepy-man sexual comments to her, a woman they literally just met, Really fast

"we're gonna cook her a steak. make ourselves look non-threatening" hahahaha yeah woo her with a big piece of meat. these guys are adorable
