I love Cixin Liu, and I will say one of the top rated reviews on this app hates Luo Ji who is my favorite character for understandable reasons. This book has not a single multidimensional female character, but hear me out. I prefer this over the Cerseis and other poorly written women of the speculative world. This writer knows his lane well and does so adeptly. Love this book so far.

I didn’t realize how slow going this would be. Plantation enslavement narratives like this, as compelling as this one is written, are difficult to get through. I thought this would be more set in Reconstruction than it is, but I’m going to stick it out.
