My biggest complaint about books like this is that they just embody toxic masculinity in such an unnecessary way.

Like I’m not sure men know they can write an unnamed female character without commenting on her breasts. They can also describe buildings and other structures without resorting to phallic imagery.

Bill, are we overcompensating for something?

This has been one of the hardest books to read, but it is probably the most important one I’ll read this year.

I hate that the Palestinian man who spoke these words to Joe Sacco was so correct. Not only have things not changed in the 30 years since, but they have gotten so much worse.

If this wasn’t for book club, I’d light this on fire.
