An intriguing read, to tag it a “coming of age” story would be an insult to Javier, the author. However, he recalls his experience growing up in a journey no parent would wish upon their child. At times it’s agonizing reading the slang and interactions with “soldiers” that could ruin them. I often am moved to tears of sadness and anger, I won’t want anyone to experience this odyssey.
