The writing is truly lovely!

After much dry quirky and scathing commentary, here comes the fear and the paranoid.

How devious. Happy accident? Trail back! This is not ending well. It's like watching a train crash.

I am terrified of the ending. It's coming.

The suspense is killing me, I know it won’t end well, how could it? The question is how bad and how? The historical context would justify a catastrophic ending, and yet, in spite of everything I can’t help hoping for a touch of gentleness, deserved ot not. The writing is taut, and it reads as a classic black and white post war spy movie.

Totally hooked, fascinating book. Very well written.

So far, extremely intriguing, I sense some kind of tragic romance/thriller in the happening. I find the characters fleshed out in clears details in each scenes with mainly action and dialogues.

Even the epilogue is painful. Slade/Rip "the gold isn't attacking us, but the hysteria of her flashing aura worries me." Hysteria??? 😖

This book grrr. It triggers me. It's either slow on the verge of boring. Has the cringest sex scenes I have read and it generally keeps you reading because of the constant anger you feel towards the multiple villains. From monks to kings and queens. Pirates and soldiers. The majority of the characters are so hateable you want Auren to end them. You want revenge. But she doesn't so you keep on reading. 😠
