Dirk is reading The Raven
Raven - I don’t think a comment is required. A fantastic piece that is famous for very good reason. I highly recommend this work.

Dirk is starting Communication As Culture
Fantastic book. Series of articles by Carey. Maybe not surprisingly the internet hype we live through today is not that different from the electric revolution of the 1880s or the telegraph revolution. Lots of interesting pointers to understand communication and culture

Dirk is starting Shopgirls: The True Story of Life Behind the Counter
The book begins great providing a lot of history and detail about the emergence of Shopgirls. The historic account is great and shows interesting parallels to present developments. The further one reads though the less detailed are the descriptions and analyses.

Dirk is on page 120 of 432 of The Net Delusion: The Dark Side of Internet Freedom
I'd normally read this book much quicker; only work is holding me back. It's fascinating as it provides a perspective on the internet and social media that markedly differs from the usual hyper-excitement about everything networked
