I’m so close to finishing and I just can’t pick it up again because I don’t want it to end!

I’m only about 10% in to this book so far, but already it’s a fun, easy read (perfect for lunch breaks and post-work brain numbing sessions - in the most complimentary way possible).

DNF. Not my cup of tea.

Holy crud, is this book a fun read!

READER BEWARE: THIS BOOK IS DANGEROUS. I sprained my eyeballs having rolled them so hard, so often.

I suppose it’s never too late to learn what I should have learned before I left, eh?

You thought the story was weird from the start? Well, hold on tight because around 80% of the way in… sh*t gets REALLY weird :/

I haven’t finished this book yet, but I’m already giving it 5-stars for a plot that won’t let me put the book down at night and is the first thing I think of when I wake in the morning.

I wish I was reading this as a kid. Little me would have LOVED this story! (Big me finds the story really fun too)

Dr S’s sense of humor, demeanor, and focus sound like someone on the autism spectrum. And the author’s reaction to those traits remind me of the ways in which neurotypical people tell me I’m weird or they don’t get my sense of humor or just give me sidelong glances that I’ve learned mean, “WTF?!.”

Okay, book 2 was a no-go. Let’s skip to the last book (#4) where the other sister narrates….

This book is KILLING me. The plot line is fantastic. But the protagonist is annoying the life out of me. I know it’s YA and that the protagonist is a teenager. But does she have to be such a whiny teenager?! I mean, my gosh… my life force is draining as I listen to the ending. But the plot is fun. And so, I continue.

I’m only on page 17 & already I suspect the author of spying on me.

“Oh, wow! I just found all the sheet music from my childhood piano lessons! (Your fingers haven’t touched piano keys in ten years.)” — Yeah, this one JUST happened.

“…instead of getting rid of things, you just rearranged the clutter into neater, tighter piles…” — Guilty.

You know how the adults in Peanuts cartoons sound? Yeah, well, Toby droning on and on and on is starting to sound like that.

Oof .

Am I done yet? (sounds like “Are we there yet?”)

I can’t believe it. I’m finally reading a Danielle Steele novel. I didn’t mean to, I swear. But my 95-year old grandmother said I would like it and, well, I do what Gram tells me to do.

The history of the women is fascinating to learn. I only wish the author would keep herself out of the tales and leave the moral ruminations at the end of each story by the wayside. Especially when she may have gotten things all wrong — like the story about Charlie Parkhurst, where she didn’t even touch on the possibility that Charley was (what we now call) a trans man.

I’m excited to read André Leon Talley’s memoir, though I’m sad it was his last. His knowledge of the history of fashion as art was incomparable. Mostly, I’m looking forward to reading his thoughts on (the lack of) diversity in fashion. And, if the introduction is indicative of what’s to come, this book will be more than just a pretty cover.
