This concept was insane and horrifying but also intriguing and beautiful.

What a read! I'll need to gather my thoughts about this one before I can review it.

Trying to continue this one but having a hard time. it's beautifully written and so well done, but it hits a little too personal which is why I can only handle reading it in small segments. Really gonna try to finish this one though!

Yesss! Finally finished this beast of an anthology. A few of the stories ended up being 5-star reads, while others weren't my vibe.

Will rate each story on its own as well as give them their own review. I will probably rate the full book based on the average of all the individual ratings.

Surprise graphic novel chapter yayyy

What I've learned during this reading sesh: martyrdom was lowkey good marketing for orthodox christians. Increasing intrigue and even their numbers.

Also gnostics are still really cool, they side eye Christians that use martyrdom just so they can go to heaven without actually living a honorable life.

Just finished 'Kitty capulet and the invention of underwater photography' and holy shit it was so goooooooddddd. I'm glad another story in this anthology ended up being a 5⭐ read for me.

Great commentary on colonialism, stolen land and the desecration of that stolen land.

Yeah okay! That was a READ.

No thoughts, head empty, wtf did I just read, but also, what an emotional journey I just went through. It did hit me on a very personal level.

Need to think a bit more before I'm able to rate/discuss this one.

Patrick Ness's story was fun but I expected more.

I'm still waiting for a story to hit as much as the kraken one which in my opinion was amazing.

I haven't been as invested in the last few stories but the next one is by Patrick Ness which excites me!

I didn't really enjoy 'Quick hill'.

I hope the next story in this anthology will interest me more.

I like having these little bites of short introspective stories I can snack on throughout the day.

Just finished the first story Moriabe's Children and I loved it! Will probably check out what other things Paolo Bacigalupi has worked on.
