Bruh

The POV switching is actually going to kill me. I hate getting somewhere interesting and then it jumps to a different POV. It makes me resent the other characters we are following because they interrupted something juicy. It makes me want to skip their chapters even though I know important stuff will be happening.

I am liking the book so far but I have one gripe about Alice Hoffman's crutch word in this book, "for". It fine if its sprinkled in but almost every page so far its been "Maria was a special child, for she had the gift of the sight." or "Magic could be found in many places, for magic reveals itself to those who are deserving."

Its just really repetitive and sounds like its forcing tone constantly.

Graphic audiobooks are literally the only kinds of audiobooks that keep my attention. I usually don’t lose focus when listening to these but there’s literally nothing going on most of the time and I get so bored! I forgot how mushy this book was pacing wise and I might actually stop listening.

DNF’d at 150. The pacing is too slow for me and the amount of times Emilia stops what shes doing to think about the glistening light coming from Wraths rippling abs is just too much for me. The world is cool and I wanted so much more.

One thing that really irks me in YA is when a “convenient best friend” character pops up. I dislike when a bubbly person arrives and they’re instantly friends with no history, no connection beyond proximity and pleasantness, and no shared interests. I’m like…who are you, how did you get here, and why are you suddenly best friends? You don’t know each other.

All I can picture is his dad dying from dancing a vigorous jig while staring down “the man” (pages are approximate cuz I have an ebook)
