Somehow I have a deja vu as if I already had read this (or a very similar) story a long time ago.

One religion - rebirth - as doctrine. Death penalty for possession of something forbidden (some type of weapon). Death penalty for believers of other religions ("war" against them). Diversity doctrine vs. "pure blood" (what ever that even means).

There are semantic errors strewn in, that let you stumble: "Although she only lived a few blocks away ... Stephanie left ... on foot."
Also when you go explicitly buying and using a gun (on the range) there should be a little more attention on the details. For instance, ".45 mm" is totally bullshit. Either use imperial or metric. But not both together.

The '63 Mustang must be a fake. Because on my Mustang's dashboard is written "since 1964". It seems the author takes the title in the wrong direction.

What a stupid fight scene. First, you can't kill someone by breaking their nose. The little piece of nose bone can't be shoved into the brain. It's too small and fragile for that. Second, you can't break a forearm with a rolled up magazine. The paper is not stable enough for that. Third, throwing a fire extinguisher over several meters at someone's head needs a tremendous amount of muscle.

Somehow there are a lot of words but little of story.
If you like infodumping you may enjoy the book. But if you want a story you have to look hard beneath all the layed out information.

Really, the marriage handled as retrospective in one paragraph?

My main concern with the setting is, that people who live "au natural" have neither time nor means for scientific research and in depth understanding of the "things that make the world go round". Also education and health care can not really be provided, as can be seen by the tribes that are currently living that way. Therefore the setting on Tresjolie is completely unrealistic and overidolized.

If you read the first book you can skip the first quarter of this one. It's just copy and paste.

Well, apparently the background story of Phoebe is borrowed from Amanda Knox. And as another reader pointed out, the police would not really be interested in a not convicted.

A nice reading but the spelling errors on every other page are irritating.
