This is really good honestly, fantastic character work.

Well… I know this is dark romantasy but did it have to be this rapey shit.

The telling and not showing in this book is kinda insane. The only “showing” is the smut lol

I feel like RK could excel at angsty romance if she only dared to step out of her comfort zone and her own tropey world. Her most compelling stuff is the exploration of some of her characters mental struggles beyond the whole “oh thedemon inside me, I’m a psychopath” schtick.

RK’s writing is getting more cringy by the second 🫪 not that it ever was that refined but damn… lol

The bratz-ification of the romantasy FMCs is honestly something to be studied, lol.
The dude is a walking shadow daddy cliché, of course.
I don’t know what variety of fated mates trope we have here but yeah, booooring.

This book and previous ones were able to hit the emotional highs REALLY well. It also and more importantly reflects on the effects of abuse, trauma and mental health in a very realistic and also heart-wrenching way. Now, all that being said, I am having some issues with inconsistent characterization and repetition, sadly. Maybe a collateral effect of the author extending the webnovel but no actual fresh ideas, idk.

“No era el reencuentro que esperaba” y por qué iba a esperar un reencuentro con una persona que creía muerta 🫠 son cosas así sin mucha lógica desde el primer libro que hacen que la prosa resulte muy poco pulida y que te acaban sacando de la historia

Un poco bastante amalgama de clichés y cositas recicladas de otras sagas, he de decir. No sé si la autora ha considerado que son algo tipo guiños, creo que sí (véase lo del cabecero de la cama), pero no termina de cuajar, da más sensación de copia descarada jaja
