This book also reminds me a lot of Quicksilver, not sure which one was first but the setup is quite similar.
I also like the The Village vibes it was giving at the beginning, although it didn’t amount to much in the end.

The concept of basically forced hibernation (shelving) is actually terrifying. Everything around how humanity works in this book is just awful. The worst part is that I could see it happening in the future.
