Great so far!

Well.. I just finished the chapter where one young woman is exalted for copying the art of great men rather than filling galleries with pictures from her own female mind - like a snow landscape, which Hawthorne equates to a picture version of “feminine achievements in literature”.

I want to read this book. I like the slow, wordy, contemplative style. But damn, Nathaniel, really coming off as a twit

I don't... understand... What is "efficiency" in Codega's world?? It's been used 6 times and never in a way I've ever heard.

Many stories are written about interesting people that do noteworthy things. This story is about an utterly mundane and uninteresting girl (without a notable redeeming quality) that noteworthy things happen to and around. It's a different approach, but not necessarily bad.

If I knew before starting the main character was a God-following, straight edge, mother figure (three things I find incredibly uninspiring). I wouldn't have started. BUT glad I didn't know because I'm "sailing" through this. So engaging!

It's making me quite curious about the real life history and lore which may have inspired this story. Feeling a little YA, but still engaging
