this is making me so excited to read Undset's other books because this is just miraculous it's gorgeous she renders Catherine with so much care she really comes alive.

there definitely has to be better biographies of her out there and i do plan to find some but there are moments where Sackvukke-West's writing is amazing. very excited to hear about the trail...

interesting and i am enjoying but everyone is right when they say this book is incredibly repetitive

She's kind of crazy but I find myself very charmed by her somehow ❤️

Speeding through this on audiobook today. I don't know Brandon Taylor's life but as someone who knows a lot of artists and also lives in NYC I can't help but feel every second of what I presume was research put into this book. I feel terrible saying bc Ive loved Taylor's work in the past but I can just feel that this is something he had to work on to understand and something about it doesn't quite click for me...

liking enough to read and maybe finish. there are moments i think are really great and i love how brandon taylor writes developing relationships. a lot of this though comes across weird, kinda preachy. hes saying things i agree with but it feels a little basic?a little surface level? its reminding me a lot of martyr by kaveh akbar but i enjoyed that book more lol

Tony Tulathimutte just knows his subject matter so well that it's hard not to be impressed. So funny, so involved in the minute SJW discourse and moral dilemmas associated with it all. You kinda hate every character but also understand them and feel a tenderness towards them as well.

One thing I am enjoying about this is how simply it is written. It's very effective and every word seems very intentional. I am having a hard time connecting to the characters but i dont think these things are connected.

literally just peeked on this book because im on hold for The First Bad Man from the library for a really long time and im already obsessed with the writing style in a way thats pissing me off.

Incited me to have a very good conversation w my dad so for that it's already an amazing book

chapter 5 - really enjoying fitz as a character and the ability to connect to/communicate with animals. i would have gotten more read but trying to read on a laptop at work destroys my eyes lmao

Already having a lot of conflicting feelings about this book. Like the humor isnt working for me and im so confused why Gideon is referencing things like pizza like is that a thing that exists in this world???that just feels wrong??but also i do want gideon and harrowhawk to fuck so idk.

So I have marked this as currently reading to hold myself accountable I AM finishing this book. I have read the first 50 pages before....and gave up. Not this time. I know I will love it if I just can get myself to commit to it.

It's taken me ..awhile to get this far so I'm contemplating putting it down. I might try and continue tandom reading with the audiobook and if that doesn't work dnf. I enjoy the setting and the atmosphere but I'm not particularly attached to any character or the plot yet.

Reading this one much slower, partially been more busy, and partially because its on my kindle now which sometimes I have a harder time picking up.

I'm interested...some of the stories the end feels a little sudden but because they are all interconnected I'm wondering if this will work out in an interesting way. I'm enjoying the writing and the humor.

reading this because archives are my job but I have taken few courses during my MLIS. Pretty good! I know a lot of this information already but a good refresher of basics.
