this is the kind of book that especially as i come back to it many years after reading it for the first time I am struck by how skilled it is. It not only created the Genre of dark academia which then got run into the ground, but it creates memorable images so effectively that its hard to not appreciate. the kind of book that does play out like a movie in your head. no wonder the aesthetic of it became so alluring
