Okay, okay, *now* I'm actually currently reading this. I started it so long ago and never moved it to my 'on-hold' shelf since things kinda go there and stay forever. I really dig the slow, sly, and abstract way this is showing the transformation of mass thought over time.

Reading just a few stories at a time to savor this, its so good!

I haven't read thia for a few days and I can't say that that bothers me. I kind of feel like this might need to be a DNF.

I literally have no idea what is going on other than the fact that there is a cast of characters travelling on a river. I need to either restart this audiobook or read it with my eyes. My brain is just so unfocused right now and I feel like I'm missing out on a great story/world.

Its lost a little charm, but I'm sticking with it. I'm really not a fan of the "super smart/evil to one person kid who everyone else thinks is an innocent doll" trope. Thats definitely the official term for it too, trust me.

I started this and then have been so damn sleepy whenever I pick it back up to read.

Slow and kind of boring, but the two MCs are so fucking weird and their shared obsession is interesting to read about.

I might be too dumb for Villalobos' work.

This chick is starting to get on my nerves with how repetitive she is.

This is just pissing me off.... but not in a bad way. This book may be fiction, but there are people living this reality and if that doesn't piss you off, are you even human?

For such a short book, this just won't end.

Still vety well written, but... how am I only at 50%?? O.O

I'm listening to this and I'm certain the perfect narrator was picked. Not a fan of the random sound effects, I fucking hate them honestly, but they can't keep me from enjoying this. Its wild how this book just doesn't slip character, it is so thoroughly rooted in, and written for, this particular time and place.

This man can WRITE.

Time to get into this behemoth.
