Just starting on the ‘Carrison’ chapter. So far liking the tone and humour of the book. I always loved Ms Fisher’s sense of humour in Wishful Drinking and this book is quite similar in tone.

Nearly finished - whew! Book just got boring for me that I ended up reading other books. Got back into it and now skimming to get to the end. I just want to finish it even though I’m not really enjoying it. The book started with a lot of promise and I was really looking forward to it, but somehow the book got too tedious with passages that felt like info-dump...Will write longer review.

Completed weeks ago! I started this book, place it on shelf for months, then coming back to it and just couldn’t put it down. Will give longer review next but this book is a 4/5. It would be different though if I review each book in the omnibus - some books were better than others.

Finished Shakespeare’s Trollop (Book 4) and now on Book 5 - Shakespeare’s Counselor. Trollop was a real page turner and had a good twist in the end. But again like in the previous book, the ending felt a bit abrupt. There were a few loose ends or characters I would have wanted to see more. And quite frustrating that no reference was made to Lily’s family given all the events in the previous book.

Finished Book 2 (Shakespeare’s Champion) which is darker than the first. Great story, but found sequencing of events and introduction of characters flawed. Will write a longer review for this book.
Book 3 (Shakespeare’s Christmas) was an easier read and delved into Lily’s family. Loved the story but the ending seemed abrupt. Will write a longer review for this book.

Finished the first book of the series, "Shakespeare Landlord". Great start as setting and characters well set up. Great heroine in Lily Bard. Overall, characters all sound authentic with great distinct voices. Only drawback is if you don't read the book through and through, and have a long pause, hard to remember who is who. Book kind of like Nancy Drew but with more adult themes and violence.

Wow! It's almost hard to imagine that this is categorised as a romance book because it reminds me a lot of some parts of Robert Ludlum's novel, The Bourne Identity.

Heroine got interesting when she loses temper at shopkeeper who won't sell her book because she is female. But I have problems with the language. At one point hero uses the word "dominatrix" in a context that would not have been used in Regency England. Not easing for the author to write dialogue like Austen or Heyer, but could she at least lessen the use of words that were clearly not used in the same way we do now

My first regency romance from Julia Quinn. So far have only read Gaelen Foley, so I'm adjusting to the shorter sentences, more light dialogue and less historical cultural references. Wonder did they actually say "smashing" during those times, and does it mean the same thing as it does now?

Enjoying the LOL moments but the hero, Jack is really becoming more irritating! And why are there pages devoted to his niece Leda? I really don't care about her.

Re- started reading this, but honestly I'm getting bored with the characters. Finally hero 'fesses his plans to heroine. I can't understand why he just didn't do this in the first place and saved Liz all the heartache. Am I being too harsh or still suffering from Regency Romance fatigue.

Just what I needed after too much Regency and other historical romances. Just into a few pages of this book and I've already had so many LOL moments!

Had to stop because I got distracted by other books. Still think this is a good book, but I'm just not in the mood for it.

Had to stop for a while. Not sure if it's because the heroine is getting on my nerves, or overall I'm suffering from Regency Romance fatigue.
