This moved me a lot. based on the authors own eye witness account of the 4.3 massacre in jeju, in which the south korean army killed 50k people including women and children out of an anti-communist frenzy. this was even before the korean war. him publishing this story brought him to the jails of the military dictatorship, where he was tortured for it.

It was fascinating the book made me think about these different character types, and about wether I encountered that before or currently do. I was shocked I did not think a lot about how fundamentally different people think, feel and act, and in this sense, this was an eye opener
