I devoured the Spellman series. This is getting irritating; if I read the word "said" again, I might scream. Didn't her editor read the darn book and suggest maybe, just maybe, reducing the number of times said was used???? Also, the gratuitous use of "white woman" was just wrong.

This may be a DNF, if it doesn't pick up. I can't do another 200 pages at the pace it's going.

I just don't know what to think about this so far. I know more about the clothes people are wearing than I need to. At times, the writing is well done, and at others, I'm annoyed. I don't think it's a DNF, but it'll be a slog to get through 400 more pages if it doesn't pick up the intrigue

Not sure about this book. Two grown women writing like twenty-somethings. The story is moving along ok, the name dropping is over the top but will push on with it.

Enjoying the author's flow. I'm not lost or frustrated with characters. There's an undercurrent of something I can't quite but my finger on tho.

Sigh, what happened to good editors?

Please don't use the same adjectives repeatedly and definitely not a few sentences apart. That said, it's still a good story, and I think I know, but not sure and there's a 100 pages left, that's a good thing.

**sort of spoiler**

1) If I had known death of puppies & kitties were part of the story, I'd have pitched it into the trash.

2) Fairly good writing disintegrates to 7th grade creative writing on occasion

3) Can't I read a current book without the liberal agenda peppered into it?

It's interesting enough I'll continue and so far l haven't figured it out (unusual because most often by page 20, I know the outcome

I cannot fathom how anyone gave this 4 stars. I'm forcing myself not to DNF. The writing is more of a YA bend, and some things just shouldn't have made it past the editor. Pretty sure I'll skim the last 140 pages, piece it together and put it on the shelf.

Who the hell is who? I know my mind isn't as sharp as it was in my 20s but frick I am confused as hell. I think I just figured out Jenna is Sandy's mom? Why could that not have been made clear at the introduction of the characters?

So far, it's not horrible, but I wouldn't say it's good either. There's just enough to continue but suspect it might end up a DNF.

Getting a little bogged down and wishing for something to shake things up. Still good writing though and I appreciate the flow.

I stumbled upon Lang's first book, Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance, quite by accident. I enjoyed the writing and finished the book in one sitting. I ordered The Wilder-Women not realizing it was the same author. Just as I did the first book, I'm enjoying the ease with which she writes (though as a writer, I know it's not always so "easy" at the time) I'm looking forward to where the story takes me.

While I truly enjoy Lutz's writing, I am finding myself frustrated with this family. That is not to say I'm not invested in their story, I am, just frustrated. I am all about sarcasm and deflection but I sometimes wonder if she takes it a bit too far. I'll definitely finish the book and make my way through the next 3...guess I'm not *that* frustrated :)

Read the Spellman Files and loved it. I then read her collaborative book Heads You Lose and was moderately disappointed. I wasn't sure what I'd get in book 2 of the Spellman saga but I'm enjoying it much as I did the first.

Ok it's a peeve of mine... If you are going to talk about guns in your book damn well know how to use them. If you have a revolver, you do not have a clip and it's a magazine. I know its common to say clip...but still...don't. Also please please have continuity. If you write that somebody turned the lights off then you send another character in the lights shouldn't be on.

Enjoying the book overall. Having the uncorrected proof is interesting. I'm also enjoying the dialog back-and-forth between the authors. What I'm not enjoying is David Hayward's writing style and much like Lutz, I'm getting frustrated with him. As a Quasi writer myself, while I'm all about not talking down to your audience I also don't think that it's wise nor is it good for the book to be purposely pretentious.

It's ok, the font of Mrs X's notes is irksome and the lack of names is too. Not giving up just yet, there is an undercurrent of humor swirling.

It has been a long time since I have so thoroughly enjoyed a book from page 1. Maybe it's because this could be MY family, maybe it's because I love witty and sarcastic humor, but either way, I already ordered the other 5 books in the series. I will be sad when this book ends, it has felt great to laugh with such spontaneity.

Please tell me this book gets better.... I'm trying to stay with it but dear lord I'm bored. I'm just not interested in the minutiae of her work, the superficial conversations and her constant reminding that she works...all...the...time. I have 35 books sitting here wanting to be read, I'm ready to cheat on this one with one of them.
