I really enjoy these Pomme Bilingual publications, and after several disappearing from Hoopla, I was happy to discover this bilingual edition (Italian-English) of nine very short stories that evoke a certain nostalgic atmosphere.

Somehow a recluse who only had a land line and didn't have Internet, had a mobile phone and learned to text in order to wish the main character good luck on her exams.

Yes, it's a small inconsistency, but it's messy!

I cannot put my finger on it, but sometimes the writing stira memories of 1990s "chick lit". I swear that every 10 pages a character mostly Olivia) alludes to a past secret or tat trial last year. It's meant to build suspense, but it's oddly annoying.

This is an extremely disturbing, difficult, and f-r-e-a-k-y book, which doesn't make it bad. But it doesn't make it good either. A great concept, but I'm finding the unravelling rather slow and redundant.

Redundant de-evolution interrupted by quick interjections of animal abuse and incest.

What happens when dystopian fiction is a tad too plodding and repetitive?

A most bizarre novella read by Tom Hiddleston... Need I say more?

Somewhere this book was cited as "absolutely terrifying", and I'm somewhat baffled. I'm finding the pacing a tad too slow, and I'm utterly stumped as to the direction this is taking. Finally, who the hell would answer the door when alone in a remote house?

Against my better judgement, I borrowed the audiobook on Hoopla. My eyes are too tired to read, but lordy... The narration on this one is tough.

Page 21. Lent to me by a friend who read it in a day. It may take me longer, but so far, I am liking this.
