Wonderful. And for those that saw the film, the book has a different ending. Beyond that the screenplay followed it closely and we learn back story that's left out of the movie which makes this well worth adding to your list. A brief 5 star review tomorrow.

For those who have not seen the film and enjoy stories of redemption and change, I urge you to add this to your list. The horse is a metaphor for what's possible in life and the characters carry it through

I find it it unusual that Evans didn't write the screenplay since all he'd written prior to this was scripts. But it's clear he had a say since the it followed the book closely and creative liberties studios normally take were left out

There's a vague resemblance to Dan Brown's, Angels and Demons due to the Crux Vera organization. It's mission is to remove anyone who gets in the way of exposing Vatican ties to Nazis and antisemitic groups in order that it remains as it did in the middle ages. It has me wonder whether Brown read this prior to writing his novel

One of benefits of reading a book the film was adapted is depth of character back story. We also learn the severity of the damage from the accident to Pilgrim. Great storytelling regardless

Rare to see a screen play that follows the book as closely as this one. As a film buff the Oscar winning Robert Redford, Kristin Scott Thomas film is a work of art and it's no wonder since was the debut novel of a screen writer!

While remarkable in numerous respects, its difficult not to be saddened by the factual account of the loss of young innocent lives due to corporate abuse and refusal of that radium was the cause. Worse yet, when settlements were agreed, the largest companies wiggled their way out of them. Greed taking the place of humanity.

A master of pacing and suspense, Silva keeps the reader engaged using cliff hanger endings to every chapter

Silva has to be one of the very few authors that's fictionalized devious activities within the Vatican. In another Allon installment he alludes to high ranking Vatican personnel that gave shelter to Nazi criminals and as well assisting with hiding their stolen art works. With this story he's showing an antisemitic element of certain Vatican staff and the possibility of blocking the Pope from correcting it

Classic Silva picture perfect pacing and suspense he immerses the reader with the skills of a cardiologist performing heart surgery

This also brings to mind the Erin Brockavich story where lives were lost due to a major utility company hiding the danger of toxic pollution of drinking water. But this is more serious due to deception and greed of companies who lacked compassion for human life due to radioactive poisoning

Classic bait and switch at the expense of human life. This demonstrates the influence of fraud as far back as the early 20th century by government, corporations and licensing agencies. In some ways it's similar to The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks yet far more dangerous since we're talking about ignorance and greed together.

This being the third episode in the Allon series, as with all the other early ones the plot is unique instead of formulaic and for that I am truly grateful.

Fascinating yet sad, the closest comparison given the time period would be coal miners who instead of radium suffered with lung disease while the owners raked in billions. A travesty of epic proportions in either case

Tragic doesn't begin to describe the lack of responsibility of the companies that failed to protect the women that unknowingly were being killed. Remarkable!

The phrase, ignorance is bliss, comes to mind when reading this tragic story. Well written and paced, it demonstrates how the people that owned the luminous wearable companies put profits above safety

Brief 3. 5 star review tomorrow. Of all books in the series this is the weakest in my humble opinion. But I remain a fan of the author regardless

Of the many installments of the series I've read this is my least favorite. But it changes nothing about the skill and talent of Daniel Silva

Good story though somewhat predictable which is unusual for an Allon installment. I expect a curve ball will cross the plate close to the conclusion

A bit slow as compared to the the others in the series but they can't all be home runs now can they

A bit disappointed in the second half which is far slower and less engaging. Hopefully things will pick up again

Interesting how Silva moves the plot from rescuing the English girl to removing the criminals that kidnapped her which is an area Allon excels at.

Very interesting turn of events. The kidnapper is extremely smart but likely not smart enough since he's dealing with Allon and Keller
