A beautiful book, but a woman just breastfed a snake thinking it was her baby. Whew.

Lawrence's characterization is so sensitive. The relationships between Mrs. Gertrude Morel and her four children are affectionate and fashioned according to their varying personalities. The father, Walter, although obviously antagonistic to Gertrude, is not deplorable and, in fact, Lawrence makes you wish Walter could just sober up and become a better person.

Pensavo che La boutique del mistero fosse troppo denso per una persona la cui madre lingua non è italiano perché ho sentito parlare dello stile di Buzzati: parabole surreali in un modo che assomiglia le opere di Kafka. Però questa raccolta è molto accessibile. Buzzati utilizza una voce appropriata per il giornalismo. Perciò rende l'esperienza di lettura più gratificante.
