Chapter One Hundred Two

Phedre throws a massive, city-wide party for Hyacinthe. She recalls her past. Thinks on everything that has happened and all of the people in her life, past and present. And is grateful for it all. Love as thou wilt.

Chapter One Hundred One

Phedre, Joscelin, and Imriel retire to her house in Montreve. Over the summer, Hyacinthe comes to visit. Phedre tells him the story of how they were able to free him.

Chapter One Hundred

They all make their way back, greeted by everyone when they reach land. The whole of Terre d’Ange celebrates their return, and the City of Elua does the same.

Chapter Ninety-Nine

Phedre and Hyacinthe make it aboard the ship, Hyacinthe seems to still have some powers over him the water. After some reunions, they head back home.

Chapter Ninety-Eight

Phedre walks out onto the water with Hyacinthe’s help. She tries to summon Rahab again. He appears, and she asks for him to lift the curse, and he refuses. She uses the name of God to banish him and lift the curse.

Chapter Ninety-Seven

Ok maybe I didn’t read it right… they aren’t swapping places. They both try to leave the aisle, this time together. These last two chapters are confusing.

Chapter Ninety-Six

Hyacinthe lets Phedre ashore. She convinces him to swap places so that she may break the curse.

Chapter Ninety-Five

After traveling on land, they board a ship to the aisle. Once there, Hyacinthe refuses to let them ashore. Not believing that Phedre has the key, that the curse can be broken. Phedre fails to summon Rahab. She leaps off the boat…

Chapter Ninety-Four

Drustan mab Necthana, Ysandre’s husband, returns to the City of Elua. So Phedre, Joscelin, Imriel, Rousse, and crew leave for the aisle of Three Sisters. In hopes of saving Hyacinthe from the curse of the Master of the Straits.

Chapter Ninety-Three

Spring arrives. Phedre is allowed to leave. But not before the Queen sends summons for the trio. She brings good news, Quintillius Rousse will taking Phedre to Hyacinthe, and anything she needs for the trip she is granted. They prepare to leave.

Chapter Ninety-Two

Phedre whines about her house arrest. Imriel fits it nicely in her household. Phedre, Joscelin, and Imriel go to speak to the Queen’s Poet, Thelesis de Mornay. And tell her their entire journey.

Chapter Ninety-One

In the palace, Queen Ysandre de la Courcel is not alone. Barquiel L’Envers, her daughters, and other nobles are present. Ysandre is NOT happy to hear of Imriel and Phedre asking for the adoption in official terms. She must accept when Phedre presents the Companions Star. Because Phedre freely admits to ignoring the Queen’s wishes in returning Imriel, her punishment is 3 months house arrest.

Chapter Ninety

They make it to the walls of the City of Elua, then through. Then finally, home. Soon, the Queen’s guard is at the door. They are to escort the trio to the palace immediately. Like, right this second.

Chapter Eighty-Nine

The trio arrives back in Terre D’ange. Not quite to the Queen yet.

Chapter Eighty-Eight

The three of them meet with Severio Stregazza, Imriel technically being his uncle in a weird way. Severio makes Imriel feel at ease and his feelings towards his family softens, not everyone is a traitor and a killer.

Chapter Eighty-Seven

Imriel asks why Melisande has done what she has done, and when offered her side of the story, he refuses and asks to leave. Phedre is left alone with Melisande. Her offer: she adopts Imriel and allows him the choice of knowing his mother. She asks: That Melisande doesn’t try to kill the Queen and she stays where she is for the rest of her life. Melisande agrees to only one.

Chapter Eighty-Six

They arrive in La Serenissima and speak with Allegra Stregazza. Phedre tells her of the plan, and makes arrangements. Phedre, Joscelin, and Imriel go to see Melisande.

Chapter Eighty-Five

Phedre speaks to Imriel and he asks for her and Joscelin to adopt him. But between politics and Kushiel’s Chosen versus Kushiel’s Scion, that adoption is not an easy task. She asks for his help with her plan for Melisande, which would help in him being adopted, and so he agrees.

Chapter Eighty-Four

Phedre reads the letter from Melisande and after much arguing, Joscelin agrees to go quietly to La Serenissima to allow Melisande to see Imriel. They will play it as if they never went to Iskandria, and Pharaoh won’t say anything (as he is in league with Melisande). Phedre plans something at this meeting with Melisande … but what?

Chapter Eighty-Three

During the trip back to Iskandria, Phedre and Joscelin discuss the possibility of Ysandre asking Pharoah to take them into custody for not sending Imriel back. Phedre considers the Companion’s Star as a way to get out. When they arrive, Pharaoh requests to see them. It seems they must head straight for Melisande…

Chapter Eighty-Two

They cross back through the desert. Phedre describes the trip and landscape in detail but nothing much of interest happens. They arrive in Menekhet and leave promptly.

Chapter Eighty-One

They arrive back in Meroe, acquire housing and rest. Imriel has another nightmare of his time in Drujan, tells Phedre what happened to him. Next morning, they dine with the royals. Gifts and farewells are exchanged once more.

Chapter Eighty

The journey through the rain sucks. Obviously. They make it back to Kaneka, and relay their stories. Then they continue their journey.

Chapter Seventy-Nine

Phedre says her goodbyes and they prepare to leave. On their journey back, Phedre tells what happened in the temple when she learned the name of god. The knowledge makes her senses more aware and she often goes into trances, observing the world around her. It begins to rain and although they should wait it out, they decide to keep moving.

Chapter Seventy-Eight

Everyone arrives back at Saba, the whole village awaiting their return. The Elders are not happy to learn what’s happened, but there isn’t much they can do. It appears that their god has blessed Phedre.

Chapter Seventy-Seven

With the priests help, Phedre raises a solid gold lid that contains the fragments of the tablet. Unreadable fragments. Phedre begins to cry, the suddenly the priest speaks the name of god. It’s unpronounceable, and causes a flood of memories to Phedre’s body. Knowing the name causes a change of heart in the soldiers sent to capture her, and they offer her transport.

Chapter Seventy-Six

By the time they arrive, a ship has caught up to them. Someone found out their plans and are trying to stop them. Joscelin fights them while Phedre tries to enter the temple. A priest opens the door from the inside, all the fighting stops, and Phedre goes to him. She asks to know the name of god and he shows her inside, to the tablet that would tell her.

Chapter Seventy-Five

A plan is made, and Phedre, Joscelin, and Imriel leave at nighttime to follow the stars. They steal and boat and row for the island. The three of them take turns rowing through the night, and by morning they find the island.

Chapter Seventy-Four

The women of the party consider for three days to help Phedre. They agree to help to her find Kapporeth, an island where the tablet is hidden.
