DNF @ 40%. I understand that fantasy involves a certain suspension of disbelief. But I'm not buying in that any police force would let a character with no law enforcement training at all assist a detective in any official or paid capacity. Or that said character, despite being a long-lived demigod, took acting lessons from Shakespeare. AND killed Jack the Ripper. My TBR is too long for this level of nonsense.

DNF at 7%, and that was already pushing my patience twice as far as it should have gone. My brain is not equipped to handle that much cliched trophy bullshit that quickly. And if your entire magic system is based on the tarot, you don't get to pretend like one of those cards just doesn't exist. You make one up. Every time I heard about the chase for the World card, I wanted to throw my phone through a window.

This book has managed to push so many of my "yes, please" buttons. What an absolutely enjoyable ride so far.

I've barely started this book, but it is already watering my soul and sating a very particular kind of book craving. So help me if this thing takes a nosedive...

DNF at 24%

This has so much potential, but I can't quite seem to fall into its rhythm. Hoping that will resolve itself if I give it a bit more time.

Pausing this one because yes, what I read of Manacled was dark, but good god this one got darker real fast.

I need an entire Jaycel series, please. She stole the show in the first book, and is delightful fun here as well. The narration for her character is A+. I adore her shamelessly.
