The Bible has increased the morality of the west while at the same time decreased the amount of corruption. (E.G., consider the Heidelberg Catechism and the positive impact its teaching on the 10 commandments have had on countries like Holland.)

Luther said, It is not many books that make men learned, nor even reading. But it is a good book frequently read, no matter how small it is, that makes a man learned in the Scriptures and godly." ALSO interesting to learn how the puritans started Harvard University within the first decade of arriving in America. Bible inspired to start colleges so that we could establish “dominion” over the earth.

It’s really cool too learn about William Tyndale and his courage and sacrifice to Translate the Bible into English. Also interesting to learn about the Geneva Bible, and how many of the results and works of William Tyndale are found in it. It took 50 years for the king James Bible to out sell the Geneva Bible.

Great summarization of the reformers and how they got the Bible in the hands of English speaking people rather than only the Roman Catholic leaders that thought scripture should only be translated in Latin bulk and not English for English speaking peasants.

Hardly read enough of it to know the gist, but I think it’s interesting to learn about this topic (how the Bible created the soul of western civilization) from the perspective of someone who grew up in India.

Good stuff. It makes sense that urbanization and the Industrial Revolution caused fathers to leave their family for a job in the city and that created issues. Between that and the sexual revolution I could see how that could cause a decline in Christianity and the family. Less God = less family. Less family = less God.

Interesting to think about how much the sexual revolution impacted the decline of the family and church attendance.
