Wow!!!! I love this book!! It's just everything I wish I learnt in biology class in school and just so detailed and explained so simply and just so good!! I wish I started reading this sooner - but I guess there's a time for everything

So far classic Australian Gothic lit. Hitting the marks of mystery and intrigue, but kinda missing the creepy ambiance of horror/creepy Gothic. But I'm hoping it gets a bit more spooky.. still early days

A sprawling recount that meanders around the protagonists thoughts and feelings. World building happening through this very compelling naratorial voice. Although I hate the name X-ville, it sounds like a name the protagonist made up to avoid using the towns actual name. Takes me out of the story a little

Wowza. So bleak yet so enthralling. The expression and wording are what give this story so much life
